Police said the victim tried to run away, but was shot once in the back.
Both assailants then allegedly ran down Upland Street, toward the 6700 block of Greenway Avenue.
Arriving officers found the victim lying on the ground at the corner of 66th and Upland streets and bleeding from the back.
He was rushed to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where he was placed in critical but stable condition.
The two suspects are described only as one black male and one Hispanic male.
