Port Authority police nab man with carry-on bag full of knives at JFK Airport
A Long Island man was arrested Saturday at JFK Airport after authorities found a trench knife and other blades in his carry-on bag, police said.
A Long Island man was arrested Saturday at JFK Airport after authorities found a trench knife, other blades and a selection of lighters in his carry-on bag, police said.
Timothy Schiavo Jr., 29, was charged with criminal possession of a weapon after Port Authority Police found more than a dozen knives and pub pretzel mix at a Terminal 5 screening point around 2:30 p.m., a spokesman said.
Schiavo, from Patchogue, N.Y., was also holding five scissors and more than a dozen lighters and matchbooks in his bag as well, according to Port Authority Police.
Trench knives, like the one police said was in Schiavo's bag, are metal knuckles with a blade attached.
