Police: Pills likely to blame for Electric Factory overdoses

Several people were hospitalized, possibly including minors, after passing out during a show on Saturday.

Police believe pills, possibly ecstasy, may be to blame for drug overdoses of several people at the Electric Factory over the weekend.

At least five people had to be hospitalized Saturday night after they fell out, including a juvenile who was rushed to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Police said some of those hospitalized were also intoxicated.

After the overdoses, officials canceled the show before Candian DJ group Zeds Dead performed.

A police spokeswoman initially reported that the Department of Licenses and Inspections was investigating Electric Factory for possible violations, but an L&I official said the department is not involved.

The Electric Factory did not return calls or e-mails seeking comment.
