Police are hoping to identify a man suspected of following a woman into her East Village apartment Monday morning and raping her.
The 22-year-old woman was walking into her East 7th Street apartment around 3:30 a.m. when the stranger followed her, pushed her inside and forcibly raped her, police said.
The man is described as Hispanic, 5-foot-6 and 170 pounds. Police said he was last seen wearing a white hat, blue sweatshirt and blue jeans.
Surveillance footage shows the suspect walking in the hallway of a nearby business before the attack.
