Police release video of two unsolved South Philly holiday crimes

Separate vandalism and robbery incidents occurred on Christmas and New Year's Day.

Police have released surveillance video in the hopes in capturing suspects in two separate South Philly holiday crimes.

Four unknown men vandalized multiple cars and homes on the 2000 block of South Etting Street, between 27th and 28th streets and McKean Street and Snyder Avenue, at 8:50 p.m. on Christmas day. They broke vehicle windows and wrote "W," "L," and "WRECK LOCALS" in yellow spray paint on walls and cars. At one point, one of the suspects appeared to stop and take pictures or video of the incident with his cell phone.

In the second incident, an armed man robbed the Double-O-Seven corner store at 2655 South 7th Street near Oregon Avenue on New Year's Day at 6:38 p.m. After purchasing a bag of chips, he brandished a handgun and demanded money.

Described as a six-foot-two white male, about 30 years of age, with a medium build, blond hair, blue eyes and wearing jeans, an inside-out gray hoodie and a dark cloth across the lower half of his face, the suspect fled north on 7th Street after taking $225 in cash.

Anyone with information about either crime is asked to call 215-686-TIPS (8477), submit an anonymous tip online or contact South Detective Division at 215-686-3013 or 3014.
