The NYPD is searching for an escaped prisoner from a drug bust during a car stop Friday night.

Plainclothes officers first spotted a speeding 2011 Honda Accord around 126th Street and Lexington Avenue Friday night around 10:00 p.m., police said.

They pulled the car over on the westbound side of the Cross Bronx Expressway near the 181st St. and Haven Ave. exit. There were two people in the car, a driver and a passenger, as well as marijuana and other drugs, police said.

The driver wrested himself free from the officer restraining him and darted across the expressway into oncoming traffic and disappeared, police said. The passenger was taken into custody without any issues.

The suspect had still not been found as of Saturday night.

Police identified the suspect as 23-year-old William Monge-Betancourt. They said he is around 5-foot-8, 175 pounds and has black hair and brown eyes.

The NYPD urged anyone with information about Monge-Betancourt or this incident to call 1-800-577-TIPS (8477). All calls are confidential.
