Police shoot, kill armed teen in North Philadelphia

Police shot and killed a teen who reportedly was traveling with two handguns, including one he allegedly pointed at an officer.

The police-involved shooting happened about 7:30 Tuesday night at 22nd and Glenwood streets, NBC 10 reports. At least 10 shots were fired.

It started when police began pursuing a car for a routine traffic stop at 17th and Glenwood. The driver accelerated before crashing into a van, then a building at 22nd and Glenwood.

The 19-year-old passenger was shot to death after he allegedly exited the car and pointed a gun at a police officer.

Police also recovered a second gun from the car, according to the NBC10 report.

The 19-year-old driver was taken into custody following a brief foot chase.
