Police shot and killed a knife-wielding man last night.
According to police, cops responded to a woman who called 911 reporting a man with a knife inside a Morningside Avenue apartment around 6:40 p.m.
Officers responded and isolated the 28-year-old man, according to the NYPD, and requested Emergency Services Unit police come to the scene.
When ESU officers arrived, they confronted the man as he came out of the apartment with a foot-long kitchen knife.
The man advanced toward police, they said, and did not comply with orders to drop the knife.
Officers fired a Taser and a rubber projectile and then fired a Taser again. Then, according to the NYPD, the man slashed the vest of one officer with his knife and punctured a first-aid kit on another officer’s vest.
Then, officers fired, according to the NYPD, striking him in the torso.
He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
