A police officer shot a man who fought with officers before allegedly pulling a handgun outside a West Philadelphia store Tuesday night.
The 24-year-old man was in critical condition at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania with a gunshot wound to his abdomen, 6ABC Action News reports.
The police-involved shooting happened about 8 p.m. outside I & S Mini Market, located along the 5200 block of West Jefferson Street on the unofficial border between Wynnefield Heights and Overbrook.
Police were called to the store on a report of a man with a gun. The suspect punched one of three police officers who approached him inside the store, then allegedly drew his gun after the officers pulled him out of the store.
One of the officers fired his duty weapon once, hitting the suspect in the abdomen.
