Sudbury police have arrested a 17-year-old male in connection with an attempted kidnapping of two 12-year-old boys.

A Skyview Lane resident called police around 3:30 pm Wednesday to report an attempted abduction of two boys and a suspect who fled in a vehicle, according to a statement from police. The suspect, according to the caller, tried to convince the boys to enter his vehicle.

An investigation followed and police arrested the 17-year-old from Sudbury after he was positively identified by the victims, according to police. The suspect now faces two counts of Enticement of a Child Under 16.

“This was a disturbing situation, involving two young children. We are fortunate that they were able to get away and seek the help of an adult, which ultimately led to the arrest of this suspect today,” Sudbury Police Chief Scott Nix said through a statement. “I commend these boys for their bravery and our officers for quickly finding this dangerous suspect.”

The identity of the 17-year-old is being withheld since he is a minor.
