Police: Tourist raped in her Bronx hotel by man she met on subway

A vacationer was raped in her Bronx hotel early this morning by a man she’d had a conversation with on the subway late last night, according to a police report.

The 33-year-old woman first met her alleged rapist on the train at East 14th and Union Square sometime before midnight. The two chatted briefly on the train, according to police.

Once the train got into the East Tremont area of the Bronx, she got off and walked to her hotel, cops said.

The victim heard a knock at her hotel door at 4 a.m., and the man reportedly pushed his way in the door and raped her.

A police report described the suspect as a 30-year-old black male, wearing a grey Chicago Bulls hat, white t-shirt and red shorts. He has a tattoo of the name “Tiffany” on the inside of his left forearm, a tattoo of a scorpion and the name “Ivan” on his right shoulder/bicep.

Anyone with information is urged to call Crime stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS. The NYPD released this video of the rape suspect in the hotel.
