Public memorial for Lou Reed to take place at Lincoln Center

The memorial will not involve speeches or live performances, only Lou Reed's music.

New Yorkers mourning the loss of music great Lou Reed can come together to remember him on Thursday afternoon.

According to a post on the musician's official Facebook page, "New York: Lou Reed at Lincoln Center" will be a "gathering open to the public."

The post instructs that there will be no speeches and no live performances.


"[J]ust Lou's voice, guitar music & songs — playing the recordings selected by his family and friends," the post reads.

Attendees are invited to gather at the Paul Milstein Pool & Terrace at Lincoln Center from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 14.
