Pure heroin being sold in Camden caused 15 people to overdose over a 24-hour period.

The first overdose was reported around noon Tuesday, according to NBC10. By noon Wednesday, 14 more people from South Jersey suburbs had also overdosed on the strong form of heroin, Camden County Police Department Metro Division Chief Scott Thomson said.

The overdose victims are "generally young 20s," Thomson told NBC10. "“We’re talking Washington Township, Cherry Hill and Haddonfield. Heroin doesn’t discriminate who it hooks into.”

Police have stepped up patrols in an effort to find the source of the pure heroin and have alerted Cooper University Hospital of its presence.
