Police arrested and charged a man with attempted murder over the weekend for shooting a dirt-bike owner in the course of a robbery in April.

Quasym Finch, 22, of the 7600 block of Ardleigh Street in North Philly, was arrested and charged with attempted murder, robbery and aggravated assault for the April 25 incident in Hunting Park.

Police say that around 3:35 p.m. on April 25, Finch and another man met two men, aged 32 and 31, who had placed an ad on Craigslist regarding a dirt-bike for sale outside a bodega near North 5th Street and Erie Avenue.

Finch allegedly got on the dirt-bike and tried to start it, then pulled out a handgun and pointed it at the sellers.

A brief struggle ensued, police say, after which Finch’s accomplice, who has not been arrested, yelled, “Shoot him!” at which point Finch allegedly shot one of the sellers in the chest area.

Finch and his accomplice then both got on the dirt-bike and sped away westbound on Erie Avenue, according to police.

The victim was brought to Temple University Hospital in critical condition and underwent surgery.

Finch was identified as the alleged shooter and arrested on Saturday, May 24.
