Sons and daughters everywhere were celebrating their fathers on Sunday, but one Queens man has more reason than most to give thanks for his dad.

Richmond Hill resident Leonard Burke, 32, received a kidney from his father Ronald after a years-long battle with hypertension and kidney failure, the Daily News reports. The younger Burke is himself a father to a baby girl.

It was the second transplant in three years for Leonard, who received a kidney from his wife Rhonda in 2010—a donation that failed several months ago. In a rare stroke of luck, 55-year-old Ronald turned out to be a match as well.

“I didn’t think twice,” Ronald Burke said. “I didn’t hesitate. I just wanted to do this.”
