Queens man killed in Christmas morning hit-and-run

A 29-year-old Queens man died on Christmas morning after he was run down by a vehicle as he was crossing the street.


Enrique Clemente-Ovando, of Elmhurst, was struck and killed on Astoria Boulevard near 103rd Street. Police found him at about 4:30 a.m. with severe trauma to his body. He was taken to Elmhurst Hospital where he was pronounced dead.


The driver, who did not remain at the scene, may have been operating a beige Toyota Camry with Pennsylvania registration, police said. The car was traveling eastbound on Astoria Boulevard.


The investigation is ongoing.
