Today, the city marked the 19-year anniversary of the 1993 attack on the World Trade Center.

A bomb built by Islamic extremists exploded in an abandoned van in the parking garage below the Twin Towers on February 26, 1993, killing six people and injuring more than 1,000 others.

In memory of the occasion, the National Sept. 11 Memorial and Museum observed a moment of silence today at 12:18 p.m.

The museum asked the public to remember the six people that died that day: John DiGiovanni, Robert Kirkpatrick, Stephen A. Knapp, William Macko, Wilfredo Mercado and Monica Rodriguez Smith, who was pregnant when she was killed.
