Report: Penn State sorority under investigation for racially insensitive 'Mexican fiesta'

An image from the party showed sisters sporting sombreros, ponchos and fake mustaches.

The Penn State University chapter of sorority Chi Omega is in hot water after a photo from a Mexican fiesta-themed party made the internet rounds yesterday.

The image, which was posted on Facebook, shows members sporting ponchos, sombreros and fake mustaches and holding signs with slogans like "will mow lawn for weed & beer" and "I don't cut grass I smoke it."

“The Penn State Panhellenic Council recognizes the offensive nature of the photo and is therefore taking the matter very seriously," the Panhellenic Council executive board said in a statement to student newspaper The Daily Collegian. "We are addressing the situation immediately with the members of the chapter in conjunction with their national headquarters."
