Report rebukes senator

A special committee urged the New York state Senate to vote on expelling Sen. Hiram Monserrate, the embattled Queens pol found guilty in November of third-degree assault against his girlfriend.

Monserrate was caught on tape dragging Karla Giraldo through a hallway after they’d had an argument. He was charged with slashing her face, but Giraldo testified it was an accident. The Senate committee formed to investigate Monserrate issued a damning report, saying he was not fit for public office.

Monserrate has ignored the calls of many to resign, including from the chairman of the state Democratic party and threatened to seek an injunction against expulsion.
