WASHINGTON. The couple that crashed a White House state dinner admitted in an e-mail to a Pentagon official that they did not have an invitation, but went in hopes they were approved for the guest list at the last minute, according to The Associated Press.

The couple appeared on NBC’s “Today” show yesterday insisting they were invited. “We were invited, not crashers, and there isn’t anyone that would have the audacity or the poor behavior to do that,” said Michaele Salahi, who appeared with her husband Tareq.
