Rosie Perez emcees free concert in Brooklyn

Members of jazz legend Charles Mingus’s legacy bands will be performing a free concert at the High School for Civil Rights in East New York this weekend.

Academy-award nominated actress Rosie Perez will be serving as Master of Ceremonies for the event.

The jazz band will be joined on stage with homeless and formerly homeless children from the neighborhood. The concert is organized by The Partnership for the Homeless, which is working in collaboration with Teacher’s College at Columbia University to launch a music and arts education program at the Family Resource Center in East New York.

All are invited to the free concert held Saturday night at Brooklyn’s High School for Civil Rights at 400 Pennsylvania Avenue.
