Strong thunderstorms and tornadoes are possible in Philadelphia and across the Delaware Valley Thursday afternoon and evening.

The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for much of the Delaware Valley through 6 a.m. Friday. Nearly 2 inches of rain could fall across the area through Friday morning, with heavy rain possible at times. Local rainfall amounts could be even higher.

A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for the Philadelphia area through 10:15 this morning.

The National Weather Service warns isolated tornadoes, damaging winds and large hail are possible in southeastern Pennsylvania and South Jersey with the storms moving into the area.
