Tuesday afternoon police identified the suspected shooter in Monday's brawl who shot and killed a Delaware Valley Charter High School sophomore.

By Tuesday evening he turned himself in to police.

Darian Person, 19, from the 1900 block of Rowan Street, allegedly fired multiple shots during a large brawl at 5500 Old York Road. One of those shots struck and killed an innocent 15-year-old bystander.

The fight, police said, started among a group of high school girls and escalated to a brawl among about 20 teenaged boys around 4 p.m. Monday.

The Nicetown resident, who dropped out of the school a few years ago, was brought to the fight as "muscle," Homicide Capt. James Clark said. And when the fighting escalated, Person allegedly drew his weapon.

Aisha Abdur-Rhaman, who was a block away, caught a bullet to her back.

Abdur-Rhaman, who Clark described as "sweet and very bright," died shortly after she was taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center.

A 19-year-old man was also shot in the chest and thigh and remains in critical condition at Einstein.
