SI murder suspect captured in Israel

A schizophrenic Staten Island man who police say stabbed his parents to death was extradited from Israel back to the U.S. yesterday morning and charged with two counts of murder.

Eric Bellucci, 30, was arrested Friday in Tel Aviv after as he tried to book a flight to China. He is to be arraigned today on charges he murdered his parents, the same day Arthur and Mariane Bellucci will be buried.

Bellucci was a smart young man who spiraled out of control as his mental illness worsened, according to reports.

He was a star athlete at the prestigious Stuyvesant High School and played baseball and football at Williams College. But he threatened suicide and was hospitalized twice for mental observation. Bellucci was recently diagnosed with schizophrenia and became paranoid, telling friends he was a Mossad agent working with Israeli intelligence.

He was reportedly also prone to violent outbursts, and his mother locked herself in a bathroom last summer after he attacked her.
