Silverliners pushed back

Another hitch in the construction of SEPTA's new Silverliner train cars has pushed back the arrival of the next three cars by three or four weeks, a spokeswoman told the Inquirer this weekend.

Another hitch in the construction of SEPTA's new Silverliner train cars has pushed back the arrival of the next three cars by three or four weeks, a spokeswoman told the Inquirer this weekend.

Three cars were supposed to be delivered Friday, but will require additional time, she said. A message left yesterday afternoon was not immediately returned.

Another group of the South Korea-built train cars also expected before the end of the year may be delayed too, the report said. In all, 120 new Silverliners will eventually replace 40-year-old versions.
