The son of an infamous abortionist was shot while attempting to commit a suspected home invasion this morning, reports say.

Barron Alexander, 22, was shot multiple times around 7 a.m. on the 3700 block of Brandywine Street, CBS reported.

CBS said that after Alexander broke into the Brandywine Street home through the back bathroom window, he struggled with one of the male occupants.

A second male occupant reportedly heard the struggle and came over with a gun, and fired on Alexander, who fled the house and collapsed on the sidewalk.

Alexander is the son of Kermit Gosnell, the infamous West Philly abortionist who was sentenced last year to three life sentences for killing newborns.

Alexander, who reportedly changed his name to avoid unwanted attention due to his father's fame, was listed in stable condition at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, reports say.

NBC reports that the home was occupied by three male college students, and that Alexander had previously broken into this same home three times to steal cash and electronics including an X-Box and a laptop.

The gun was registered and legally owned, NBC said.
