Sonic Youth frontman Thurston Moore's guitar was stolen from his Philadelphia hotel room last night, according to a post on the band's Facebook page.
The instrument, described as "Thurston's iconic Sonic Youth black Jazzmaster," was taken from the Best Western on North 22nd Street near the Benjamin Franklin Parkway around midnight. Moore said he filed a police report.
"Please email us if anyone tries to sell this relic to y[o]ur store," he wrote. "It would be appreciated. Please forward to other guitar stores you may know in the area."
Moore was in town last nightwith collaborator John Moloney to play a show promoting their experimental Caught on Tape release at Space 1026 near 11th and Arch streets.
