A South Boston self-defense studio is offering free instruction to women who live nearby as a result of the murder of Amy Lord, 24, who was beaten, robbed and stabbed to death early Tuesday.
Two other nonfatal attacks also helped motivate the company to make the offer, according to an announcement:
"In light of the recent attacks on women in South Boston, Ultimate Self Defense is offering free classes for women in the neighborhood. After Tuesday's murder of Amy Lord and the stabbing of a Gates Street woman also on Tuesday, Andrea Muccini, owner of Ultimate Self Defense, felt moved to help. "It's awful and frightening, and we want to do this for our community," says Muccini.Follow Morgan Rousseau on Twitter: @MetroMorganFollow Metro Boston on Twitter: @MetroBOS
