A South Jersey man and his dog were injured in a vicious dog attack over the weekend.
The incident happened inside the victim's Absecon, Atlantic County, home on Saturday, NBC40 reports.
Louis Nell, 73, remained hospitalized Sunday night with injuries to his hand. He is being treated for rabies, according to the report.The family dog — a 10-year-old golden retriever named Chrissy — was euthanized due to the severe nature of injuries she sustained in the attack.

Nell's wife told NBC40 that a neighbor's dogs broke through her home's screen door and attacked her husband and their dog. Neighborhood residents indicated the dogs may have been infected with rabies by a raccoon spotted roaming the neighborhood.
The NBC40 report describes the attacking dogs as pit bulls. Absecon police reportedly killed one of the dogs while animal control officers took the second into custody.
