Southie Rules: A&E's South Boston reality show to premiere in January

The show says "This triple-decker family will either have to find a way to keep the yuppies out, or learn to coexist. Things are about to get interesting."

After many rumors and much anticipation, the first of a slew of Boston-based reality shows is set to premiere next month.

"Southie Rules" will air Tuesday nights beginning Jan. 29 on A&E, the network announced yesterday.

Along with the announcement of the premiere date, the network released more details of the show and the family that will be in the spotlight.

"With three generations living under the same roof, one beer-crushing, shamrock-toting, triple-decker family vows to preserve their Southie way of life and stick together, no matter what the yuppies throw at them," the network said in its announcement.

The show follows Camille, the family's matriarch and her ex-husband Walter, who live on the top floor of the triple-decker and still sleep in the same bed. They live with their youngest son Matt, his girlfriend Jenn and their one-year-old Liana.

On the ground floor is Leah, her husband Jarod, and their toddler. Leah is a "housewife with loud opinions," according to the network.

Some South Boston residents have said they are worried that the upcoming Southie-focused reality shows could turn the neighborhood into the next "Jersey Shore."

We'll have to wait until January to see whether that happens.
