Nephew tried to break into home of woman reportedly slain by husband

The nephew of a 46-year-old woman who was found strangled to death in Pennypack Park, allegedly slain by her husband, tried to break into the couple's Northeast Philadelphia home early Wednesday morning.

The nephew of a 46-year-old woman who was found strangled to death in Pennypack Park, allegedly slain by her husband, tried to break into the couple's Northeast Philadelphia home early Wednesday morning.

Steve Anderson, 32, of the 2600 block of Genesee Road, nephew of deceased mother of two Connie Murray, is charged with attempted burglary, along with Brandon Howard, 27, who was allegedly with Anderson.

Police say there was a report of "someone breaking in" at 1:55 a.m. on Wednesday August 13 on the 2800 block of Tolbut Street at the house Connie Murray shared with her husband, Christopher Murray, 28.

A witness told officers that males were trying to enter the house through a rear sliding door.

Officers reportedly then arrested Anderson and Howard.

Murray was found dead on Tuesday, August 5 around 6 a.m. by a jogger in Pennypack Park.

Her husband, Christopher Murray, 48, had reported her missing the night before, saying she disappeared after going for a walk in the park.

On Saturday, August 9, after failing a state police-administered lie-detector test, Murray confessed to strangling his wife after a domestic argument.
