A Stonehill College student told police a man sexually assaulted her as she walked through campus early Sunday morning, a university official said.



The incident happened on a pathway near the college’s MacPhaidin Library around 2 a.m., according to Stonehill Spokesman Martin McGovern. The victim, who was later hospitalized, described her assailant as a man with strawberry blond hair.


"The health and well-being of victims in cases of sexual assault is always our top priority," McGovern said in an emailed statement. "Victims are offered a variety of resources, counseling, medical, alternative housing options, and academic accommodations. We have expanded patrols on campus and will be sharing more safety reminders with our students."

The college emailed issued a warning to the campus community at 4:35 a.m. and, sent another update later int the morning morning, McGovern said.
