Students flee Allston fire, several injured

The flames from this morning's fire in Allston were so fierce that residents jumped from their windows.

Seven residents of an Allston home were taken to Boston area hospitals after a fast-moving fire ripped through their home this morning.

One man was in critical condition after he and another person jumped from the second-floor windows of the home to escape the smoke and flames, fire official said.

The two-alarm fire broke out about 7:08 a.m. at 84 Linden St. The house was home to mostly Boston University students, fire officials said.

More than 60 Boston firefighters were called in to put out the flames.

The building is a total loss, fire official said.
