Survey Says: Boston second most honest city in US

According to a recent experiment conducted by Honest Tea across the US, Boston is the second most honest city.

Boston is the second most honest city in the country according to a recent poll conducted by a beverage company.

During last week’s record-breaking heat waves, Honest Tea set up “pop-up stores” in 12 cities across the US.

In Boston, vending machines were positioned outside the Prudential Center for the day on July 19.

The social experiment had the unmanned pop-up stores stocked with ice-cold Honest Tea, asking visitors to leave $1 per bottle in an honor box.

Not only did the box not get stolen, but Bostonians put money in the box 97 percent of the time, according to the experiment.

According to a press release sent out by the tea company, hidden cameras were arranged to provide live video feeds of each pop-up store on the interactive honestcities.com website.

The website documented how honest people actually were and tracked the real-time honesty results of each city.

Chicago beat Boston by two percent, according to the results.

"We wanted to challenge people to think about how honest Americans are as a whole, particularly when no one is watching," said Seth Goldman, president and TeaEO of Honest Tea.

Honest Tea is donating all of the money collected --- nearly $5,000--- to three non-profit organizations.

Honest Tea will also match the funds collected, according to the press release.
