T fare hike, service cuts proposed

MBTA officials today outlined plans that could increase bus and subway rides by as much as 43 percent and cut services that include weekend E Line and Commuter Rail trains.

Under the scenarios, a subway ride could increase from $1.70 to $2.25 or $2.40. A bus ride could increase from $1.25 to $1.50 or $1.75.

Officials said they plan to hold as many as 20 public meetings to gather feedback before implementing the fare hikes and service cuts.
