A taxi driver was shot and killed during an apparent robbery attempt in West Philadelphia early Wednesday.
The homicide occurred on the 6200 block of Walnut Street, near Cobbs Creek Parkway about 12:35 a.m.
The 33-year-old taxi driver sustained gunshot wounds to his chest, according to police. He was pronounced dead at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania a short time later.
Police were not identifying the victim as of Wednesday morning. He was a driver with All-City cab company.
Police found the taxi resting against a building it struck on the north side of the roadway.
