The National Tea Party Federation has booted its prominent Tea Party Express branch for refusing to denounce former chairman, Mark Williams, a vocal opponent of the mosque planned near Ground Zero.

Williams has made increasingly incendiary comments in recent months, but a July 14 blog post, in which he satirically assumed the voice of “the Colored People” in praise of slavery, prompted the Federation to request his dismissal from the Express and eventually expel the group.

On his blog, Williams described the ousting as, “self-interested treachery.”
