Teachers seek to block ratings

The United Federation of Teachers is seeking an injunction to block the Department of Education from making public its ratings of teacher performance. Amid a nationwide debate over education and educator performance, the city had planned to release its teacher report cards in response to a Freedom of Information Law request filed by news outlets, including NY1. The data would include teachers’ names, schools and scores.
