A 29-year-old Boston resident was arrested in Maine over the weekend with 41 lbs of marijuana in his car after cops did not buy his claim that he was medical marijuana caregiver.

Oleg Spektorov of 499 Summer St., was pulled over around 8:45 Saturday night in Auburn, Maine because his tail lights were not working properly. During the stop, police detected “the overwhelming odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.”

The vehicle was consequently searched. The search yielded 41.6 lbs of marijuana, a small amount of hashish oil as well as items used to make hashish oil.

He was arrested and now faces charges of aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs and unlawful possession of a drug.

He was released from Androscoggin County Jail on $25,000 cash bail and is next due in court on Dec. 30.
