The Linc set to go greener

SOUTH PHILADELPHIA – Lincoln Financial Field will become even more green as the Eagles announced a more than $30 million investment in wind turbines, solar panels and other energy-efficient technology.

The project, expected to be finished by September 2011, would make the stadium the first major sports venue in the world to convert to self-generated renewable energy.

“The universal appeal of professional sports can become a powerful, visible example of how renewable energy sources can create a cleaner, sustainable environment,” Eagles co-owner Christina Lurie said.
