The most dangerous intersection for New York’s pedestrians is right smack in the middle of Manhattan: Park Avenue and 33rd Street.
According to Transportation Alternatives’ analysis of crash data from 1995-2009, 163 pedestrians have been struck there in that 14-year span.
Graphic designer Rachel Johnson, 25, who lives in Murray Hill and works on 33rd Street and Park Avenue, was surprised to learn the number of accidents on her block.
“I walk across it every day — it’s weird,” she said.
But she said she could understand why so many people are hit at the crossing, near the entrance of the Park Avenue tunnel.
“The lights are never consistent,” she added.
In order to curb crashes on the same city streets, Transportation Alternatives created CrashStat.org, an interactive map of traffic stats across the five boroughs, such as where the most pedestrians and cyclists are struck by cars.
The group says 220,000 pedestrians and bicyclists have been killed or injured on Big Apple streets since 1995, and more than 13,000 are hurt or killed annually.

1. 163 crashes at Park Avenue and 33rd Street in Manhattan.
2. 141 crashes at Utica Avenue and Eastern Parkway in Brooklyn.
3. 123 crashes at Webster Avenue and East Fordham Road in the Bronx
4. 92 crashes at Union Street and Northern Boulevard in Queens
5. 36 crashes at New Dorp Lane and Hylan Boulevard in Staten Island
