The Rent is 2 Damn ridiculous

This weekend Saturday Night Live immortalized everyone’s favorite gubernatorial candidate, Jimmy McMillan of the Rent is 2 Damn High Party.

Donning black gloves and silver muttonchops, actor Kenan Thompson pledged “I will make sure you get a roof over your head, money in your pocket and breakfast, lunch, and dinner.”
And if you’re on a diet? “Too bad!” cried the character.

McMillan thrust himself into the spotlight during an outspoken performance at last week’s gubernatorial debate that was followed by reports that he himself has not actually paid rent since the 1980s.

The sketch portrayed self-described karate expert as prone to outlandish exaggeration and offbeat math.

“You know how much a one bedroom apartment costs in Manhattan?” Thompson asked in McMillan’s trademark tone, “$77,000 a month. A house in Queens costs 17 million dollars!”

Another highlight was the somber admission that “Believe it or not, I’ve never been a governor anywhere.”
