A Quincy 10-year-old was charged with animal cruelty this week after police said he stabbed a neighbor’s pet pig.

Police responded to the Bicknell Street home just after noon Tuesday and found the pig, whose name is Bacon, with stab wounds, said Quincy Police Capt. John Dougan.

Officers investigated and determined the boy had injured his neighbor’s swine, which was kept in a back yard pen.

The boy was taken for evaluation.

City officials said the pig is allowed as a pet because the owners complied with city ordinances, according to the Patriot Ledger.

A veterinarian was examining the pig, Dougan said.
