Three killed in three separate shootings overnight

After quiet week, homicides in Kensington, Hunting Park and West Oak Lane.

After what seemed by all accounts to be a relatively quiet week, with the city's last homicide occurring Sunday, police are investigating the murder of three people in three separate shootings overnight.

Officers found Shahid Davis, 19, of the 100 block of West Lippincott Street, at 7:51 p.m. inside McPherson Square on the 3000 block of F Street in Kensington, less than a mile from his home. He was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the chest, shoulder and arm. Davis was rushed to Temple University Hospital and pronounced dead at 8:11 p.m.

Less than two hours later, officers responding to a report of a person with a gun found Jason Allen, 28, of the 3900 block of North 10th Street, lying unresponsive in the schoolyard of Alexander K. McClure Elementary School on the 600 block of West Hunting Park Avenue in Hunting Park, about a half mile from his home. He was pronounced dead on the scene at 9:40 p.m., ten minutes after he was discovered.

Police found a third victim, 28, on the 2000 block of 66th Avenue in West Oak Lane shortly before 10 p.m. He was lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to the back. The man was taken to Einstein Medical Center, where he was pronounced at 12:35 a.m. His identity has not yet been released.

No arrests have been made in any of the incidents and investigators have not yet determined motives for the crimes.
