Boston Bruins goalie Tim Thomas is creating some more controversy with a recent post on his Facebook page.
“I Stand with the Catholics in the fight for Religious Freedom,” Thomas posted yesterday. It is followed by a quote from a German pastor.
The post has nearly 900 likes today and dozens of comments.
Some of the commenters are telling the Stanley Cup MVP to stick to hockey while others are praising his speaking out.
There’s no explanation for the comment, but some reports link it to the Obama Administration’s mandate that health insurance companies cover contraceptives.
His comment caught fire in part because of his skipping a White House ceremony last month honoring the Bruins for last year’s Stanley Cup victory.
