Time Warner Inc. announced Thursday plans to move its headquarters from the Time Warner Center in Columbus Circle to the Hudson Yards development on the west side.
The new headquarters will be in an 80-story skyscraper within the planned, mixed-use development of offices, residential buildings, green space and a shopping mall over a 13-acre rail yard.
Time Warner said it is selling the existing headquarters within the Columbus Circle center to a Related Companies venture for $1.3 billion. The venture will lease Time Warner the space for a few years.
In 2019, Time Warner says it will consolidate executive offices, along with HBO, Turner Broadcasting and Warner Brothers divisions, in a new building at 10th Avenue and 33rd Street.
Related Companies built Time Warner Center and is behind the new Hudson Yards development.
