The day is yours, local Godsmack fans.

Mayor Marty Walsh will proclaim August 6, 2014, as Godsmack Day in Boston. The event is scheduled to take place at the Newbury Comics in Quincy Market Wednesday afternoon, according to Walsh's schedule.

The Lawrence band has a new album coming out and the first 500 people to buy the album at Newbury Comics Wednesday will get to attend the Godsmack Day event and get their album signed by the band.

Radio station WAAF is hosting the event. The station said they were the first to play the band on the radio and called the band "international ambassadors for the city of Boston."
