Transit police search for T hate attacker

Transit Police are searching for a man who kicked and spit on a pair of women in an apparent hate crime as they rode an Orange Line train.

The unidentified man approached the two women, who are 18 and 19 years old, as they rode the T between Malden Center and Sullivan Square about 11 p.m. Nov. 19.

Police said the attack appeared unprovoked.

“They tried to ignore him and he just turned a verbal assault into a physical attack,” said Transit Sgt. Det. Michael Adamson.

The man made homophobic comments and racial slurs toward the women, kicked one in the face and the other in the chest and then spit on them before he fled at Sullivan, police said.

“It was just his own warped perception that he came up with in his mind,” Adamson said.
Authorities said the man is wanted for assault battery with a dangerous weapon, a shod foot.

Police issued a wanted poster this week seeking the man’s identity. Authorities described him as between 20 and 28 years old, about six feet tall with a heavy build.
