Talk about a dim-witted TSA goof.
Hundreds of people were delayed Saturday due to a TSA screw-up at JFK airport, when one agent accidentally let hundreds of passengers through security screening without realizing his machine was unplugged.
Alija Abdul Majed, who was manning Lane No. 1 at Terminal 7, let hundreds of passengers through his metal detector, according to the New York Post.
He never realized it was actually unplugged, or that the detectors’ signature alert lights never once flashed as fliers strolled right through.
The error was discovered at 9:45 a.m. Saturday and the Port Authority was forced to evacuate Terminal 7.
Two planes just about to take off had to return to the gate so passengers could be re-screened at a metal detector that was actually turned on.
Majed said he had no idea how long the machine was unplugged. The terminal was re-open at 11:45 a.m.
