Tufts University police put out an alert Monday after a man with a knife robbed a store near the school’s Medford campus.

Tufts police said Medford authorities alerted them to the robbery that took place about 8:20 p.m. at Campus Mini Mart, located at 356 Boston Ave., directly across the street form the university’s campus.

A man walked into the store, showed a knife and demanded money from the cash register, police said. He then fled into the back of a white SUV that drove away down Boston Avenue toward College Avenue. The victim inside the store was not hurt, police said.

Police described the suspect as a white man, about 5 feet 11 inches tall with a thin build. He was wearing a Red Sox hat, a black North Face jacket and blue jeans.
